2026 Corvette ZR1

The 2026 Corvette ZR1 makes 1,064 horsepower, without any electrification. It is the 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V-8 from the Z06, but everything is upgraded or changed, including the all-new Edge Blue Intake System and enhanced combustion chambers.

Two turbochargers spool up in a flash with help from electronic waste gates and then ram oxygen down this engine's throat until the 8,000-RPM redline is hit. But at 6,000 RPM, the 828 pound-feet of torque is delivered. All of this goes to the rear wheels, which can be made entirely from carbon fiber.

An eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the most available downforce out of any production Corvette make the new 2026 Corvette ZR1 a list of extremes with no end in sight. A top speed of over 215 mph1 is just one more entry.

The new 2026 Corvette ZR1 has a flow-through hood containing the intercooler. Beneath it, a carbon-fiber front splitter and available smooth underbody panel whip the air onward and through the rear diffuser for maximum downforce. Downforce is a key term here, as managing 1,064 horsepower in a RWD car demands a lot of it.

Further help comes from an available carbon-fiber wing and dive planes that glue the new 2026 Corvette ZR1 to the ground. And, with further touches like gigantic side inlets sending air to the brakes and engine, there isn't an inch of airflow around the 2026 ZR1 that doesn't get manipulated.

The signature side inlet carbon-fiber "wishbone" is slightly different, and the wing, grille, wheels, and exhaust pipes are unique, but the biggest design change is a gift to Corvette fans: the rear window.

Indeed, the new 2026 Corvette ZR1 is the first split-window Corvette since 1963. It isn't just for looks, either; it has integrated vents and louvers to keep the engine cool and is surrounded by a carbon-fiber hatch that does much the same.
